Physical Therapy Services

Physical therapy helps children develop the skills needed to achieve their highest level of functioning. Physical therapy examines: Balance, Coordination, Endurance , Flexibility, Gross motor function, Mobility, Pain, Posture, Strength.

Occupational &  Behavioral Therapy Services
Occupational therapy helps children achieve independence. Occupational therapy examines : Developmental delays, Fine motor difficulties, Flexibility, Oral / feeding problems, Positioning for function, Self-care skills, Sensory integrative problems, Visual motor skills, Visual perceptual skills, Splinting, Wheelchair getting &  adaptation.

Occupational therapy’s role is to assist in improving overall functional level of the child’s gross & fine motor skills. The major areas of occupational therapy concentration are: hand/grasping skills, feeding skills, sensory processing skills, work behavior, cognitive development, play skills &  activities of daily living.

Speech &  Language Therapy Services
Speech therapy treats human communication disorders. The Foundation provides speech therapy services that cater to the needs of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down’s syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Mental retardation, Hearing Impairment, Cleft &  Lip Palate, Delayed Speech &  Language Development, Pervasive Developmental Disorder & Global Developmental Delays. Speech therapists at the foundation identify the child’s speech &  language disorders, evaluate his/her speech & language skills &  provide appropriate intervention for such. Skills targeted during therapy include speech & articulation, receptive & expressive language, auditory comprehension &  auditory processing.

Special Education Services
Special education is classroom or private instruction involving techniques, exercises, and subject matter designed for students whose learning needs cannot be met by a standard school curriculum. We specialize in preparing your child for school. For children in school, we have programs to enhance their academic performance. We offer special education assessments, programs &  tutorials.

Dance Therapy Services
A Child’s DREAM Foundation, Inc. Baguio’s first pediatric therapy center for special children, offers “A Child’s DREAM.. To Dance! ”, a Dance and Movement Class. This is a great opportunity to enrich lives of special children through learning dance in a friendly and positive atmosphere with typical children. Your special child will gain confidence, social skills, balance, and strength. Classes will be engaging and creative. The program will utilize the body as a form of expression, will teach skills on self-control, enhance learning and provide strategies for relaxation. Children will develop motor and kinesthetic skills, progress artistic and emotional skills, follow rhythm and patterns of movement, improve control and inhibition and build self-discipline in movement. A Child’s DREAM Founder &  Medical Director Dr. Francis Dimalanta, Executive Director Mita Dimalanta and Mrs. Cherry T. Velarde-Mactal invite special children, their siblings, and friends to ”A Child’s DREAM…To Dance !” Culminating activity is a presentation for Baguio Day, A Day In A Life of A Special Child, the first in the history of Baguio City & the Philippines where typical and atypical children dance together.

SEARCHING RAINBOWS…CATCHING DREAMS : A Creative Arts Workshop for Exceptional Children
The first of its kind Creative Arts Workshop for Exceptional Children in Baguio City brought to you by Baguio’s first pediatric therapy center for special children will help all children express their creativity and develop their senses, improve visual and spatial skills, foster intrapersonal skills, enhance motor skills, advance linguistic abilities, cultivate imagination, increase capacity to interact with others, develop kinesthetic skills, progress artistic and emotional skills. The workshop will help children follow rhythm and patterns of movement, improve control and prevent inhibition, build self-discipline in movement, develop linguistic abilities, explore mediated forms of communication as a form of expression and improve interpersonal and social skills.
